What shipped, and when.
FocusProof follows a plain versioning scheme: the version you see in the About window is the version listed here.
A small maintenance release. Nothing about how sessions are recorded, timed or calculated has changed — Study Time, Focus Score, Score Coverage, away-study accounting, backups and Study Receipts all behave exactly as they did in 1.0.0.
Installation
- Opening the disk image now shows FocusProof and your Applications folder side by side, with an arrow between them and a single instruction, on a FocusProof background. Previously the image opened as a plain folder listing.
Settings
- Settings → About now has a Support section with a link to the project’s Ko-fi page. It opens in your browser, appears nowhere else in the app, never interrupts a session, and changes nothing about how FocusProof works whether or not you use it.
FocusProof is distributed independently and is not notarized by Apple. macOS requires manual approval the first time you open it.
Updating from 1.0.0 preserves your sessions, settings and classifications.
The first public release of FocusProof. A private study recorder for Mac: start a session, study on screen or away from it, and finish with an inspectable record of where the time went.
Sessions
- Timer sessions at 15, 25, 45, 60 and 90 minutes, plus a custom length.
- Open-ended sessions for work with no known end.
- Pause and resume. Paused time is not recorded and does not count towards the session.
- Studying away from the Mac, confirmed by you, counted towards Study Time, and ended by returning to computer study.
- A subject and optional goal per session, with recent subjects and saved templates for repeat work.
The record
- Session Review: study breakdown, attention timeline, grouped and raw activity evidence, and the working behind every figure.
- Study Time, Accounted activity, Focus Score and Score Coverage, calculated from the recorded session rather than assumed.
- Low-coverage marking when a Focus Score is drawn from under half of a session’s accounted activity.
- History of every session on the Mac, searchable by subject and goal, with filtering and sorting.
- Weekly Insights: study time per day, the split between focused work and confirmed away study, longest unbroken focus, meaningful interruptions, and a comparison with the previous week.
The Study Receipt
- A single-sheet summary of one session, rendered on your Mac in a paper or dark theme.
- Exports as an image or a PDF, saved where you choose.
- Contains times, totals and a reference number — no application names, no domains, no activity detail.
Privacy
- Recording only while a session you started is running, with a visible Recording badge throughout.
- Application names, and website domains by name only when the Chrome integration is set up.
- No page contents, full addresses, file paths, keystrokes, screenshots or clipboard access.
- Local storage on your Mac. No account, no cloud sync, no analytics and no telemetry.
- An in-app Privacy screen stating exactly what is and is not recorded.
Platform
- Native Mac application, universal for Apple silicon and Intel, requiring macOS 15 or later.
- Light and Dark appearance throughout, following the system setting.
- Optional Chrome extension with a local native messaging host for domain-level browser evidence.
- Backup and restore of session data to a file you control.
- Update checks through Sparkle, with release notes shown before anything installs.

The Chrome integration is Chrome-only. Safari and other browsers are recorded as the browser application.
Earlier versions
1.0.1 is the first public release of FocusProof. Builds made before it were development and testing builds; they were never published and are not part of the public product, so there is no earlier history to list here.
